About Maria
Historistai Concept Office was founded by the historian Maria Sampatakaki in 2014.
Maria is a well-known professional actively engaged in the field of Public and Applied History. Her career as a historian began in the Diplomatic and Historical Archives of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).
She studied History at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens and at the University of Helsinki, as well as Literature at Cambridge University. She was a fellow of the Fund for American Studies and the International Institute for Political and Economic Studies. She has rich research, writing and teaching background. She has published a series of monographs on modern Greek history and taught at universities both in Greece and Czech Republic.
In 2004 she introduced the term and the practice of public and applied history in Greece and started cooperating with enterprises, foundations and institutes by producing useful historical content. Ten years later her experience in that field led to the foundation of Historistai, aiming at the development of projects for the utilization of primary historical research in the fields of culture, entrepreneurship and education.
